Greetings HPU fans, or casual observers, alike!
My name is Steven, or HPUalum2011 on X, and I'd like to welcome you to Prowled Sports.
Honestly, this wasn't really planned, but has evolved into a passion project of my own. Like myself, you may be asking how all of this came to be....
At a young age, I was a sports fan. Baseball, basketball, football, soccer, hockey -- You name it, I likely tried to play it, and certainly watched it. In the same adolescence, I attended my first High Point University men's basketball game. (For reference, it was in the Millis Center, with guys like Zion White, Danny Gathings, and Issa Konare playing.)
I was hooked. I was now a Panther fan.
Being my first introduction to HPU, it resulted in attending the University and becoming an alum, working alongside the men's basketball team as a student, remaining a High Point native, and continuing my fanhood of the program to this day.
Even my love for sports grew outside of High Point. My first gig, fresh out of college, was being Sports Director for a Triad-based radio station. (Hence the podcasting.)
I'm now older, my family's grown, and I own a furniture manufacturing plant. But I'm still an HPU fan. I still love and appreciate my alma mater.
What I've noticed, even with our basketball program on the rise, the coverage for fans is limited. If you really desire information about players, coaches, and happenings around the various sports programs at HPU -- It's limited to a hard-working team within the athletics department. There's very few outside sources or platforms that cover something, you may really enjoy.
With the hope of only adding to the great content the HPU athletics department produces, I hope you enjoy Prowled Sports.
Home to the Prowled Panthers podcast on men's basketball, this blog that will have exclusive content and quotes, more podcasts on the way, and maybe even videos.
It's just fans, discussing and sharing the enjoyment they have in a school, and the surrounding NC, that seems deserved.
I hope you'll join us and be a Prowled fan.
-Steven
