That "33rd NFL team" is looking like a NY Jets farm-team at the moment.

When the powers in Chapel Hill wrangled a coach, Bill Belichick, with the most Super Bowl wins as the head man, the most playoff appearances, and a 3-time AP coach of the year -- It was impossible to predict that the on-field product in the first 5 weeks of the college football season would look this lopsided. If you can acquire one of the greatest coaches of all-time to lead your program, I think you have to do it.

However, out of the 2-3 start for UNC, out of being outscored 129 to 94, and as a result of giving up an average of 25.8 points-per-game from a defensive-minded coach -- The stories, news, and reasons of blame are insane.

From what are being pointed at, as the reasons to the current failure, you would have had to never heard the name 'Belichick' before in your life.

I first have to say: I understand why reporting's are made this way. But using "sources" as the proof in news, always catches a side-eye from me to begin with. According to sources that spoke to WRAL news, one of the direct mentions in it's subtitle states "failure to communicate" as one of these aforementioned reasons. And frankly, this is just a microcosm of their elongated blast on the Belichick-led, Tarheel program.

Those sources say:

• there's no culture

• there's a failure of the coaches not communicating with players and parents

• parents were told not to approach Belichick

• there's a lack of experience by the coaches, while pointing to Steve and Brian (Bill Belichick's sons)

• it's a disconnect from this not being the NFL

To further accentuate the hilarity of these accusations, WRAL quoted a source as saying:

"Bill shuts people out. He's limited in what he says."

How absent-minded do these "sources" have to be, to not realize that this is what UNC was signing up for?

In other words -- Outside the Jordon paradigm, Belichick has always been the same style of persona as a coach. He's closed off. He holds much of his words, close to the vest. There's little pizzazz, and only the straight fast ball down the middle.

If you looked at Belichick to be a ra ra, hobnob with the parents, create a stellar environment for donors and "friends of the program".... You would be foolish. We're talking about a 24-year span of time. I think the precedent is set.

While the product on the field is sloppy. It lacks in offensive explosiveness and can't even hang its hat on the defensive side, that Chapel Bill is so well-known for. There IS reason to fuss and yell, as you shell out $10 million a year.

You just can't be scratching your head with THESE findings. A spade is a spade.
