You won't find much in the way of politics on this site!
That's a topic we're steering clear of. But speaking of steering, this may be something we ALL can get behind.
Recently, NC Governor Josh Stein signed in a new law. Senate Bill 245 supposedly lets drivers renew or update their driver's license remotely, more than once, before showing up at a local DMV in-person.
Now, anything more in the bill is up for scrutiny and questions.
But this part is something I think we can all agree on. There's an extreme soft spot, given that everyone is supposed to have a "Real ID" if you'd like to do any travel by plane.
I once was up against my license renewal timing. I had previously renewed via the online platform, so I HAD to now go in-person. There were ZERO appointments available via DMV website bookings. My choice was to hustle out of my house, approximately at 6a, head straight for the nearest motor vehicles office, and wait for their first employee to show.
I was first in the parking lot. I raced some others out of my vehicle to be first in-line. I got up to the desk for the first walk-up visitor.
The computer wasn't working....
Fortunately, I did get my renewal at that timing. Instead of another long story, I also had to go back to complete the Real ID only months later.
If you've ever been in a DMV. If you've ever worked with the employees that absolutely hate their job. If you've ever attempted to make an appointment. If you've ever gotten to the desk and found you had missing paperwork.
Do I really need to go on?
