Dangling For 45 Minutes At The Fair

A fair in the Fall is truly an awesome thing. Because of all the other events happening at the same time, I wouldn't say it's been a "can't-miss" for my schedule. But when you start talking animals, fried foods, live music, time of year, and even the carneys -- Where would you find a complaint?

If you're a big fair goer, you may realize there was a particular attraction that was left OFF my quick-hits of fair favorites.

The rides.

At our NC State Fair late last week, riders on The Vertigo were left stranded for around 45 minutes. We have some of their reactions and footage:

According to WRAL news in Raleigh, the ride came to a stop because of a "low voltage" issue. But, as you can see, riders just had to sit and dangle for close to an hour.

Not to take anyone's side here, but I partially hold ALL people that choose to enjoy fair rides responsible. That is a BIG no, no for me.

Anything that can be loaded up and yanked behind a truck down the highway, then called a "ride" is going to be a hard-pass. These same portable structures make their way from stop to stop. And I actually enjoy amusement park rides at the larger establishments. Those are actually fixed in-place, maintained regularly, and here in NC we've still seen their concerns.

The BEST part about this story for me...

The Vertigo's spokesperson said that anyone who was stuck on the ride, could contact them for ANOTHER complimentary ride.

I just got stuck dangling for close to an hour. I may have been fearful of how I was going to get down from the height I was raised to. Now, let's ride again!

Fool me once, shame on me. That's where it should end.

So, if you're going to the fair, take it from me -- Enjoy some fatty food, take in the animals, and soak in the sights and sounds. Let the rides get jerked down the road, to their next stop.
