Picture this: you’re cruising down U.S. Route 74 in western North Carolina on a regular Wednesday morning, coffee half-gone, playlist poppin’, you’re thinking about which wing place you’re hitting after work. And suddenly… THWACK.
Your windshield shatters.
You slap the brakes.
Your brain does the whole “Did I hit something? Is this real?”
Then you look—and you find a dead cat on the passenger-side dashboard.
The kicker? Turns out a bald eagle dropped it. Boom. Mid-air. From the sky. Straight into glass.
Evidently, eagles dropping feline bombs on moving cars is somehow regular. Experts say the eagle likely snagged a dead cat and it slipped from its talons, or the bird dropped it because it was too heavy
Nature doesn’t care about your commute. Wildlife isn’t paying attention to you. It just does its thing. And sometimes its “thing” is dropping body-bags (sorry, cat) through your car windshield. So next time you’re driving through the Triad or heading towards the Smokies, maybe glance at the sky. Maybe keep your windows up. Maybe just thank your lucky stars the next animal missile may be something smaller like a pigeon.
This was a cat… delivered by an eagle
